Fit Tips Posting Site

Throughout this course each student will be responsible for providing a fit tip for the day.  These tips will give your classmates new ideas on how to stay healthy physically, mentally and socially.  Requirements for this assignment are as follows:
1.  You must provide a link to the website or video of where you got your information.
2.  You must provide a short written description of your fit tip and explain why you decided to research your topic
3.  Give a short in-class presentation explaining your fit tip and show the class where they can find more information.

EXAMPLE

Chewing tobacco is not safe alternative to smoking! Attention if you are a smoker who is looking to quit don't look towards chewing tobacco as the solution.  Currently there are four popular forms of chewing tobacco snuff, chewing tobacco, snus & dissolvable tobacco.  Using any of these forms of chewing tobacco are highly addictive and can lead to cancer, cavities, gum disease, heart disease and precancerous mouth lesions.  The best way to quit any tobacco product is to consult with your local physician and come up with a safe plan.  The information for this post was provided by the Mayo Clinic.  Click on the link below for more information.

  2. " Daily Multivitamin "

Multivitamins are a combination of many different vitamins that are normally found in foods and other natural sources.

I believe in taking a daily vitamin. There are many times in our daily lives where we don't get the proper dosage of vitamins
through food consumption. There are many health benefits when our body has the nutrition it needs.
There are many different brands and types of vitamins. Whether your use be for medical needs, physical such as eyes or joints,
and or dietary deficiencies. Different vitamins, cater to different needs.

The benefits of daily vitamins: physical energy levels are up, the ability to focus better, stable moods through out the day and
a better sound sleep through the night.

    * ALWAYS, consult a medical physician before taking any vitamins

  4. Many people think that skipping breakfast can help with losing weight since you're eating less. But it really doesn't, by skipping breakfast you tend to eat more later on. People who skip usually nibble on high calorie snacks to fight off hunger. The ideal thing to do is eat a nice breakfast to get your fuel for the day. Eating 5 times a day, about every three hours is key. Two mini meals between the main meals helps so you don't eat much later and so you aren't hungry throughout the day. I found much of this information on the website link below.

  8. Sunscreen /yay/

Unless you love to have skin cancer, please put sunscreen 15 minutes before go outside. Even when you drive, UV ray can get through the window and harm your skin. Winter or summer doesn't matter, the sun still be on top of our head.
One sunscreen bottle can last for three years.
Don't think that the higher SPF will have more protective.
According to Spencer, an SPF 15 product blocks about 94% of UVB rays; an SPF 30 product blocks 97% of UVB rays; and an SPF 45 product blocks about 98% of rays.
"After that, it just gets silly," he says.

  11. Drinking water vs drinking Gatorade
Water performs a number of essential functions to keep your body in balance and hydrated, and these include regulating temperature of your body.
Gatorade contains electrolytes that are naturally produced by your body, such as potassium and sodium, as well as carbohydrates. The sodium that is found in Gatorade helps your body retain the fluids that are lost through sweating.
The best thing to do is use a combination of water and Gatorade

  13. When To Stretch:

You should stretch after a short 5 - 10 minute warmup. You can walk or have a light jog, that way you increase blood flow to your muscles and they aren't cold. By doing that it also increases the mobility of your muscles. Stretching cold muscles is not a good thing to do, as you can get injured. So always remember to stretch after a light warm up.

  20. Diet Pop vs. Regular Pop

Growing up my mom never really had pop in the house. It was a "special occasion" type of thing. And now I know why! Personally I think if you're going to drink any pop at all, regular pop is the best way to go as long as you're not sipping on it all day. But some other people think differently. My grandma for example, a year ago was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer. Before this she drank up to 8 cans of diet coke daily. Her doctor told her that a probable cause for her cancer was how many diet pops she drank. She has now finished chemo therapy and has cut pop, diet or regular, out of her diet completely.

Some facts on diet pop vs. regular pop:
